A Maundy Thursday Poem

Gracious Lord and Friend,
I do not want to be here this night,
Yet I am here,
By your side,
We have shared the bread,
The cup,
And now you say you must die,
I do not want to go,
Yet you bid me farewell,
As if you know,
That I’m the one,
In mortal sin,
I am here to betray my friend,
to do this deed,
because you are you,
and I am he,
am I Judas?
No, just me.
