Functional lighthouses work, they share their light with the world. They protect mariners, boaters, and those seeking safe harbor and shelter. Their lights shine outward and around in all environmental conditions. Lighthouses draw people closer toward safety. Lighthouses embody the concept of love.
Historic and abandoned lighthouses point to what a structure once did. They are relics of the past and point to a way of life that is no longer lived or experienced by most people. Their light no longer shines. We can only stand back and see what they once did or who they once protected. They serve no purpose than to speak as hollow reminders of lives they once saved.
Are you a functional lighthouse or an abandoned lighthouse? Are you drawing people in with your light?
